What is the difference between a Medical Emergency and a Medical Urgency?MEDICAL EMERGENCIES: They are those health situations that require immediate attention since there is an imminent risk to life. In an EMERGENCY our medical team responds in an AVERAGE TIME OF 30 MINUTES. Examples: acute myocardial infarction, acute respiratory failure, cerebrovascular accident, severe trauma, etc. MEDICAL EMERGENCIES: They are those health problems without imminent risk to life, but that require timely medical attention to avoid complications. In an EMERGENCY our medical team responds in an AVERAGE TIME OF 45 MINUTES. Examples: acute appendicitis, renal colic, asthmatic crisis, simple fractures, etc. The Protected Area contract covers Emergency and medical Emergencies but not the care of minor situations that can be resolved through external medical consultations.
